The Whittington Triple Carport – LOJ Collection

The Whittington Triple sits between our Double and four-car models: three bays side by side under one long, gently arched roof. It is the size that suits a household that has outgrown a double — two cars and a work van, or two cars and a third bay kept for the caravan, the boat, the ride-on mower or a proper covered space to work and sit in.

Like the rest of the Whittington range it is built on curved laminated beams, which soften the line of the roof and stop a structure of this length looking like a barn. A timber carport earns its place on a larger drive for the same reasons it does on a small one — no doors to heave up, no foundations to dig beyond the drive you already have, room to walk round every vehicle, and frost, sap and leaf-fall kept off the paintwork — but at this width you also gain a genuinely useful covered outdoor room.

Specification

Is the Triple the right step up? Three ordinary family cars fit side by side with room to open the doors. If the third bay is mainly for a caravan, a trailer or a workshop area, check the height under the beam at the front as well as the clear width between the posts. If you need four bays, see the Whittington Carport for 4 Cars; if two is plenty, the Whittington Double is the same design in a smaller footprint.

Base and planning: The carport needs a firm, level surface across its whole footprint — an existing concrete, block-paved or tarmac drive is usually ideal, as the post holders anchor straight down into it. At this size it is well worth checking the rules before you order: many carports fall under permitted development, but the position relative to the house, conservation areas and listed buildings all change the picture. Delivery & installation: Made to order and delivered on a 13.6m articulated lorry — please note that arranging a team to unload the pallet on site is the customer's responsibility.
