The Whittington Carport for 4 Cars – LOJ Collection

The largest carport we sell: four bays, nearly twelve metres of covered parking, all under one continuous arched roof. It is built for properties where a double simply will not do — larger family drives with several drivers, farmhouses and yards, holiday lets and guest parking, or a small fleet of vans that needs to stay dry and frost-free overnight.

Even at this scale it is the same design as the rest of the Whittington range, and the curved laminated beams do a lot of work: they carry the roof across a long span while keeping the profile soft, so what could easily have looked like an agricultural shed still looks like a garden building. It is also far quicker and less disruptive to put up than a four-bay garage, needs no foundations beyond a sound existing drive, and leaves every vehicle accessible from three sides. Plenty of customers use a bay or two for something other than a car — a caravan, a boat, a workshop area, or a long covered space for outdoor entertaining.

Specification

Before you commit to this size. Measure the full 11.64m width against your drive and leave room to swing in and out of the end bays, not just to park in them. Because of the length, the ground needs to be level across the whole run — a slope that is barely noticeable over five metres becomes obvious over twelve. If you are unsure, send us a photo and a rough plan of the drive and we will look at it with you before anything is ordered. Base and planning: The carport needs a firm, level surface across its whole footprint — an existing concrete, block-paved or tarmac drive is usually ideal, as the post holders anchor straight down into it. More on choosing a base. A structure of this size is the most likely of our carports to need permission, particularly in front of the house, in a conservation area or alongside a listed building. Delivery & installation: Made to order and delivered on a 13.6m articulated lorry — please note that arranging a team to unload the pallet on site is the customer's responsibility, and there is a lot of timber in this one.
