Delivery & Installation

Every building we sell is made to order by the manufacturer and delivered direct from them to you. This page explains where we deliver, how long it usually takes, what to expect on the day and how to get your building on a solid base and put up.

Where we deliver

We deliver to mainland England, Scotland and Wales. Every product page has a postcode checker so you can see straight away whether we deliver to you.

• We're not able to deliver to Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or other islands.
• Some Scottish Highlands postcodes need checking with the manufacturer before we can confirm delivery. Please contact us for Highlands and island postcodes before you order.
• Beeston concrete garages and stores: delivery and installation are free within 20 miles of our Buzzards Valley site. Further away, we'll confirm the delivery charge for your postcode before you order.
• Ex-display buildings: free delivery and installation within 40 miles of our Buzzards Valley Display Site. Further away, we'll confirm the delivery charge for your postcode before you order.
• A1 Garden Buildings: delivered free to most of England, with a surcharge in some postcodes. A1 can't deliver to Scotland beyond the borders, Wales, Northern Ireland, Devon, Cornwall or the islands.
• Asgard secure steel storage: delivered free to most of mainland Britain, with a surcharge in some postcodes (see the Asgard section below).

How delivery works

1. We call you to confirm the details

Once you've placed your order, one of our team will call you, usually within 24 hours. We'll confirm your building layout (such as door and window positions), talk through any access restrictions at your property and give you the current lead time.

2. Your building is made to order

We pass your order to the manufacturer, who builds it to your chosen specification. The manufacturer then delivers it direct to you. We'll let you know how delivery is arranged for your building and give you the manufacturer's contact details so you can keep track of it.

3. Delivery day

• Kerbside delivery: many self-assembly kits, including Power Sheds sheds and summerhouses, are delivered kerbside only. That means the driver unloads at the roadside or the nearest point the vehicle can safely reach. Exactly where the goods can be left is at the driver's discretion, depending on safe access for their vehicle. Drivers can't carry heavy packs through your house or move pallets over gravel, grass or steps, so plan to have a helper on hand to carry the parts to your garden.
• Access: buildings often arrive on large lorries, and some larger buildings come on a lorry with a crane. Please tell us about narrow lanes, low bridges, weight limits, parking restrictions or steep driveways when we call, so we can let the manufacturer know in advance.
• Being in: please make sure someone is at home to receive and sign for your delivery. Delivery windows can cover most of the working day, so we recommend you don't book an installer for the same day as a kit delivery. Power Sheds set their own delivery dates; these are estimates rather than guaranteed dates, and Power Sheds can't offer a delivery time slot.
• Checking parts: check your delivery against the parts list as soon as you can, and before you start building or book an installer. If any packaging looks damaged when it arrives, make a note of it when you sign.

Log cabin delivery

Every log cabin we sell is delivered free. That covers the whole Power Sheds log cabin range — the 44mm Apex, Pent and Chalet cabins, the Retreat, Deluxe Retreat, Manor, Combi, Snug, Canopy and Aluminium cabins, and the log cabin garages and double garages.

Log cabins are heavy, so they don't come off the back of a lorry by hand. Your cabin arrives on a pallet and is lifted off the lorry by HIAB crane (a crane mounted on the delivery vehicle) and set down at your kerbside. You don't need to unload anything yourself.

A few things worth knowing before the day:

• The crane places the pallet at the kerbside or the nearest point the lorry can safely reach. Moving it from there into your garden, and assembling it, is down to you — so line up some help, as the packs are heavy.
• The lorry needs room to park and swing the crane clear of overhead cables and trees. Tell us about narrow lanes, low branches, weight limits or parking restrictions when we call, so we can pass it on.
• Log cabins are supplied as a self-assembly kit. If you'd rather not build it yourself, ask us and we'll help you find an installer.
• Your base needs to be ready, level and fully set before you start building.

Shire, Fortis and A1 delivery

Shire Garden Buildings and Fortis Insulated Workshops: prices include delivery to Shire's standard area. Some areas further afield carry a surcharge, which we'll confirm before you order. Buildings come flat-packed for self-assembly, or you can choose "Assembled by Shire" on the product page.

A1 Garden Buildings: delivered free to most of England, with a surcharge in some postcodes. A1 can't deliver to Scotland beyond the borders, Wales, Northern Ireland, Devon, Cornwall or the islands. Sizes are nominal, and you'll need a firm, level base ready.

Asgard secure steel storage

Asgard bike stores, motorcycle garages and secure steel sheds are made to order in the UK and delivered by Asgard to the front of your property. On most models you can choose Delivery only and build it yourself, or Delivery & installation and Asgard's own team will put it up for you. Garrison buildings include installation in the price, and gas bottle stores arrive fully built on a pallet. Every Asgard building needs a firm, level base, ideally concrete.

Asgard delivery surcharges (including VAT). Delivery is included everywhere else on mainland Britain.

• £25: TA postcodes (Somerset)
• £30: DT postcodes, LL53 and LL61–LL77, SA19–SA20, SA31–SA48, SA61–SA73, SY23–SY25
• £50: EX, PL and TQ postcodes
• £75: TR postcodes, and most AB and IV postcodes
• £125 to £300: parts of the Scottish Highlands (some AB, IV and KW postcodes)
• Orkney (KW15–KW17): please ask us for a price

We'll confirm any surcharge for your postcode when we call to confirm your order.

Typical lead times

Lead times vary between manufacturers and at different times of year, and can move up or down with demand. The figures below are typical lead times only, based on our own recent orders and what each manufacturer publishes. We'll give you a closer estimate when we call to confirm your specification and order details.

Shire lead times are approximate, taken from Shire's latest notice, and can change. We'll confirm yours when you order.

Bases

Every garden building needs a firm, level base. Without one, doors can stick, roofs can twist and damp can get in. Your base should be ready before your building is installed.

If you'd like a professionally laid concrete base, we work with our partner Midland Base Works. Their concrete bases are precision laid, level and load-bearing, with a fast turnaround. They're suitable for sheds, garden rooms and home offices, and larger projects too. Get in touch to discuss your project and check they cover your area.

Installation

Whether installation is included depends on the manufacturer. Each product page explains what's included, and here's a quick summary:

Installer availability depends on where you live, so please contact us and we'll let you know what's possible.

How long does installation take?

It depends on the building and the brand. Lifelong's own team typically installs a steel shed in 2 to 3 hours. Pent Haus garden rooms take around 3 days of on-site assembly once the components arrive. For Sovereign, Coppice Collection, Vista Collection, Shedlands, Suresheds, Asgard and Beeston buildings, the installation team will confirm how long they need when your date is booked. Self-assembly kits depend on the size of the building and how many helpers you have. Whatever you're buying, the base must be ready and level before installation day. See our base guide.

Damaged or missing parts

We want your building to arrive in perfect condition. If something is damaged or missing, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours of delivery, so we can sort it out quickly with the manufacturer.

Power Sheds orders: please check every item as soon as it arrives, and before you start building or book an installer. Damage to uPVC doors or windows must be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery. Any other damage, shortage or fault must be reported within 7 days of delivery, so we can pass it to Power Sheds within their claim period. Please include photos (and measurements where useful) and let us know you've checked all the items you received.

1. Don't assemble any damaged parts, as this can make a replacement harder to arrange.
2. Take clear photos of the damaged parts and of the packaging.
3. Check the parts list and note which items are damaged or missing.
4. Email your photos, order number and a short description to craig@lichfieldgardenbuildings.com, or call 01543 398778.
5. We'll work with the manufacturer to arrange replacements for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland or the islands?

Sorry, no. We deliver to mainland England, Scotland and Wales only. For Scottish Highlands postcodes, please contact us before ordering so we can check with the manufacturer.

Is delivery free?

Yes, delivery is free on our garden buildings, and some include installation too. Every log cabin includes free delivery. A few ranges have a distance limit: Suresheds (free within 50 miles of their Rotherham factory), Beeston (free within 20 miles of our Display Site) and ex-display buildings (free within 40 miles). Shire, A1 and Asgard prices include delivery to their standard areas, with a surcharge in some postcodes that we'll confirm before you order. Some accessories carry a delivery charge when ordered on their own. What's included is shown on each product page. If you're unsure, just ask.

Can I choose my delivery date?

This depends on the manufacturer. We'll talk you through how delivery is booked for your building when we call to confirm your order. Power Sheds schedule their own deliveries, so their dates are estimates and they can't offer a time slot.

Will the driver carry my building into the garden?

No. For kerbside deliveries the driver unloads at the kerbside or the nearest safe point, so you'll need to move the parts yourself. Log cabins are craned off by HIAB onto the kerbside, which saves you unloading them, but moving the pallet into position is still down to you. Where installation is included, the installation team handles this.

Will my building arrive assembled?

Most buildings arrive as panels or kits, ready to be put up on your base. Some ranges are installed for you by the manufacturer. See the installation table above.

Does my base need to be ready before delivery?

Your base must be ready, level and (for concrete) fully set before your building is put up. If you're installing it yourself, keep the parts flat, dry and covered until you're ready.

How long does it take to install a garden building?

It varies. Lifelong steel sheds are typically installed in 2 to 3 hours, and Pent Haus garden rooms take around 3 days of on-site assembly. For other installed ranges, the installation team confirms the time when your date is booked. Your base must be ready and level first.

Do I need planning permission?

Many garden buildings don't, but some do. Read our planning permission guide before you order.
