Do I need a base?
Yes – every garden building needs a firm, level base, ready before your building is put up. Where we sell a matching base for this building, you’ll see it as an option above.
Prefer concrete? Our partner Midland Base Works lays precision concrete bases – ask us if they cover your area.
Getting the size right: the size in a building’s name (for example “8x6”) is a rounded, nominal size. The real floor or base footprint can be a little different, and the roof usually overhangs further. Build your base to the manufacturer’s base or floor measurement, not the name.

Shedlands' timber garages are built to exceptionally high standards, giving a secure, solid structure that complements your property. A timber garage adds valuable extra space with the bare minimum of building work, and is available in Standard or Premier cladding grade with a side entrance door.

Specification
- Frame: 44mm x 44mm finished timber (50mm x 50mm sawn); roof trusses 44mm x 70mm finished (75mm x 50mm sawn)
- Cladding: interlocking timber cladding; Standard or Premier grade
- Floor: not included – a suitable concrete or paved base is required
- Roof: green mineral roofing felt (heavy duty poly felt upgrade available)
- Double doors 1880mm x 2135mm; side door 1775mm x 762mm
- Eaves height 1895mm; ridge height from 2490mm (8ft deep) to 2690mm (12ft deep)
- Treatment: a water-based treatment is applied at the factory. It is a temporary coat, so the building must be re-coated by you within 3 months of installation – or choose a painted finish when you order.
- Other sizes: most Shedlands buildings can be made to other sizes on request – ask us for a price.
- How we measure: sizes are shown as length x gable end, so on a 10ft x 8ft building the 8ft side is the gable end. Some other manufacturers quote sizes the other way round, so please check the layout against your space before ordering.
Colours & finishes: painted finish available in Sage, Red, Dark Pink, Swiss Blue, Turquoise, Light Pink, Lilac, Yellow, White, Light Blue, Cream or Cornflower Blue, with roof tiles available in Black, Slate, Red or Green. Where Premier cladding is offered, it's a thicker 18mm board versus 12mm as standard – all internal timber framing is rounded on every corner for a safer, neater finish.
