Do I need a base?
Yes – every garden building needs a firm, level base, ready before your building is put up. Where we sell a matching base for this building, you’ll see it as an option above.
Prefer concrete? Our partner Midland Base Works lays precision concrete bases – ask us if they cover your area.
Getting the size right: the size in a building’s name (for example “8x6”) is a rounded, nominal size. The real floor or base footprint can be a little different, and the roof usually overhangs further. Build your base to the manufacturer’s base or floor measurement, not the name.

The Tool Safe is a slim garden store, slightly smaller than the Tool Tidy, so it squeezes into the tightest spaces.

- Cladding: tongue-and-groove timber boarding, 19mm before machining and finishing at 15mm for shiplap or 16mm for loglap – you choose when you order
- Floor and roof: tongue-and-groove boarding on smooth planed framing
- Roof: high-quality mineral roofing felt as standard
- Treatment: factory base coat on every section, ready for your top coat
- Timber: from FSC or similar approved sources
- Guarantee: 1 year, as long as the building has been re-treated and not neglected or misused
- Other options – EPDM rubber roof, felt shingle roof tiles, extra height, pressure-treated timber and bespoke sizes – are available on request, so just WhatsApp us for a free quote
Delivery & installation
Delivery and installation by A1's own fitters is included across most of England. CA, LA and TA postcodes carry a £165 surcharge and the London ULEZ area £18, which we invoice after you order. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Devon, Cornwall and the islands can't be ordered online – ring 01543 398778 and we will check. EH and TD postcodes carry a £165 surcharge. The delivery map is the last picture above. A firm, level base and clear access are needed; if an installation has to be abandoned because of the base or access, a recall charge applies (minimum £85, and it can be more depending on your postcode).
Good to know
- Made to order in the UK by a qualified assembler; currently about 6 weeks from order to installation, rising to about 8 weeks in peak times
- Sizes are nominal (timber sizes before machining) and shown depth x width, the way A1 measure them
- Arrives with a factory base coat – apply a top coat as soon as possible and re-treat once a year
- Timber is natural, so small splits, knots and resin pockets can appear over time
