Pick a spot that gets the sun when you will use it most, then choose the size. Our sizes are the outside size of the building, not counting roof overhangs, so leave about 18 inches to 2 feet clear around it. Our Find buildings that fit tool makes this easy.
Most of our summerhouses are timber, and some use composite cladding. Treated timber lasts longer, so read pressure-treated vs dip-treated timber. For use all year, look at log cabins or garden offices instead.
A summerhouse needs a firm, level base. See what base you need. Delivery and installation depend on the range. Some prices include fitting and some arrive as a kit, and the product page says which. See buildings with installation included. Check our planning permission guide too.
Our Display Site at Buzzards Valley, between Lichfield and Tamworth (B78 3EQ), has 20+ buildings to walk round, 7 days a week. Not every model is on display, so ring 01543 398778 if you want to see something in particular or talk it through.
Think about the furniture you want inside, such as a table and chairs or a sofa, and allow room to move around it. Our sizes are the outside size of the building. Leave 18 inches to 2 feet clear around it for upkeep.
A combi summerhouse has a separate store built in, usually at the side or back with its own door. It gives you a sitting room and a place for cushions or garden tools in one building.
Most summerhouses are made for the warmer months. If you want a room for all seasons, look at our log cabins with thicker walls or our insulated garden offices.
Yes, a summerhouse needs a firm, level base to keep the floor flat and the doors working. Many ranges offer a matching base as an extra.
It depends on the range. Some summerhouses include installation in the price and others are delivered as a kit. The product page shows exactly what is included.

A summerhouse gives you extra space to enjoy the garden, whatever the weather. We stock summerhouses from Power Sheds, Suresheds, Shedlands and Sovereign, in styles from simple pent and apex buildings to combination designs with a storage end, in a wide range of sizes.
A summerhouse works well as a reading nook, a playroom, a home bar or just a sheltered spot to sit out. Many can be upgraded with different cladding, glazing or a painted finish. Every summerhouse is made to order and delivered direct to mainland England, Scotland and Wales.
Call us for help choosing the right size. Our Display Site at Buzzards Valley, Tamworth B78 3EQ has summerhouses up and open — among them a 7ft x 7ft Suresheds Swaledale Contemporary corner, a 12ft x 10ft Georgian Kingsdale Apex and a 16ft x 8ft Airedale Leisure. Our display buildings can be viewed seven days a week — ring or book if you’d like someone to show you round.
Mainly the size, the style (for example pent, corner, octagonal or combination), the cladding thickness, the glazing and the roof covering. Installation matters too: it's included in the price of every Sovereign building and within 50 miles of the Suresheds factory, while Power Sheds summerhouses are self-assembly kits. Don't forget the base. Current prices are on each product page, and finance is available through Ideal4Finance, subject to status.
Yes, on bright days, but a standard timber summerhouse isn't insulated, so it gets cold and can suffer from condensation. For regular winter use, choose an insulated building such as a Vista Collection garden room, which comes with full insulation and electric heating, or read our insulated sheds with electricity guide. Ventilate it on dry days to keep the air fresh.
For occasional or summer working, yes. Several of our summerhouses, such as the Power Pent Summerhouse, have large windows that make them well suited to a garden office. For a year-round office, you'll want insulation, heating and safely installed electrics, so see our garden office guide.
Short on space? Corner summerhouses such as the Suresheds Swaledale and Sovereign Devon tuck into the angle of two fences. See our small sheds guide for more space-saving ideas.
