If you've been browsing our sheds and summerhouses, you'll have come across the Sovereign name again and again. It's one of our most popular timber ranges, and for good reason: a wide choice of shapes and sizes, solid heavy-duty construction, and something to suit almost every garden and budget. Whether you need somewhere dry to keep the mower and tools, or a proper garden retreat to sit out in, there's usually a Sovereign model that fits the brief without needing a custom build. Here's a closer look at what the range actually offers.
A shed shape for every garden
The core of the range is a line-up of classic timber sheds, each built on heavy-duty round-corner framing with tongue & groove shiplap cladding:
- The Rutland Apex Shed – Sovereign's classic apex-roof shed, a versatile all-rounder.
- The Nottingham Pent Shed – a pent-roof version for spots where a sloping roof suits better, such as against a fence or boundary.
- The Surrey Premium Apex Shed – heavier 44x44mm framing than the standard range's 32x44mm, with a smarter finish.
- The Cumbria Robust Apex Shed – built for heavier-duty use.
- The Cornwall Corner Shed – shaped to make the most of an awkward garden corner while still offering generous storage space.
Sizes run from a compact 6ft x 4ft right up to 20ft long: the Rutland and Nottingham go up to 20ft x 10ft, the Surrey to 20ft x 8ft and the Cumbria to 20ft x 12ft, while the Cornwall corner shed comes in sizes from 6ft x 6ft to 10ft x 10ft. So it's worth thinking about what you'll actually be storing (or doing) in there before you pick a size. Apex roofs give a bit more headroom in the middle for taller items like ladders or bikes hung on the wall, while the pent-roof Nottingham suits gardens where a single sloping roof looks neater against a fence or boundary. Once you've settled on dimensions, our guide to choosing and preparing a base is a useful next stop – getting the base right makes a real difference to how long any timber building lasts.
Beyond storage: summerhouses and garden features
The Sovereign name isn't just about sheds. The Norfolk Barn Summerhouse brings a distinctive gambrel roofline and comes with standard joinery included, making it a striking garden feature as well as a usable space. For something different again, the Oxford Bandstand is an open-sided timber structure built for outdoor entertaining, dining, or simply relaxing in the garden – a lovely option if you want shelter without four walls.
Built the same way, wherever you look
What ties the range together is the construction: heavy-duty round-corner framing and quality tongue & groove shiplap cladding throughout, whether you're looking at an entry-level Rutland or a more robust Cumbria. Round-corner framing rather than simple butt joints helps keep buildings square and sturdy over time, and shiplap cladding sheds rainwater cleanly rather than letting it sit in the joints. That consistency means you can mix and match across the range – a Rutland for tool storage and a Norfolk summerhouse for sitting out in – and know both buildings are built to the same standard, just scaled to different jobs.
